How to Play

  1. Turning Point (aka Shut the Box) is a board game that uses 12 "boxes" and 2 6-sided dice.
  2. The game begins with all boxes 1-12 at an "open state" where box 1 equals the number value 1, etc.
  3. To play the game, roll two dice and get two values each 1-6.
  4. After rolling, sum up the dice. This is the sum you will use, so keep it in mind. If you roll doubles (dice with the same value), you can use either the sum of the dice or twice the sum of the dice.
  5. Then, you can "close" any combination of boxes that sum up to the dice sum you are using.
  6. Keep rolling the dice and closing boxes until you have either closed all boxes (if all boxes are closed, that means you won!), or cannot close any correct combination.

Example

  1. Let's say you begin a game with all boxes 1-12 open.
  2. Your first roll is 2 and 2. So, you can close any combinations of boxes that sum up to 4 or 8 (4 because 2+2=4, and 8 because 4*2=8).
  3. So, some example combinations of boxes you could close are: (4), (8), (1, 2, 6), (3, 5), and more.
  4. Let's say you close boxes 3 and 5. This means for the rest of the game, you cannot close 3 or 5.

Instructions

  1. Click ROLL DICE.
  2. Select the boxes you want to close by checking the checkboxes below the numbers.
  3. Click CLOSE to close the boxes you selected.
